How Are the Nails Made?

We often use all kinds of nails in our lives. It is so convenient to fix things. Do you know how nails are made?

Well, let’s first understand the types and related uses of nails:

  • A grain nail. Pattern nails Purpose: No nail head nails, no nail marks after being laid, characteristics suitable for advanced decoration industry.
  • A steel billet nail. Steel row nail features: novel design, unique, fast efficiency, good engineering quality, wide application, etc. It is an ideal replacement product for ordinary round nails. Uses: furniture making, sofas, wooden boxes, and various wooden products.
  • K nails, A yard nails, N nails use: furniture manufacturing for sofa chairs, sofas and leather. The decoration industry is used for ceilings, thin plates, etc., and the wooden box industry is used for outer thin plates.
  • Concrete nails. It is similar in appearance to round nails, with a slightly thicker head. However, cement steel nails are made of high-quality steel nails, which have the advantages of hardness and bending resistance, and can be directly nailed into concrete and brick walls. Common specifications are 7~35mm. Cement nails can also be divided into: blackened cement nails, bluish cement nails, colored cement nails, countersunk cement nails, K-shaped cement nails, T-shaped cement nails, galvanized cement nails and so on.
  • Wood Screw, Lag Screw. Also known as wood screws. It is easier to combine with wood than other nails, and is often used in the combination of metal and other materials with wood.
  • Fluted twist nail. The nail body is like a twist, the head is round and flat, cross or flat, and the bottom is pointed. The nailing force is particularly strong. It is suitable for places that require strong nailing force, such as drawers, wooden ceiling hangers, etc. The common specifications are from 50 to 85 mm.
  • Puttogether nail. It is a nail with pointed ends and a smooth surface in the middle. Splicing nails are easier to combine and fix wood than other nails, and are especially suitable for dowels when combining wood panels. Common specifications are 25~120mm.
  • Self-drilling screw. The nail body has a deep thread, high hardness, and low price. It can combine two metal parts better than other nails. It is mostly used for the connection and fixing of metal components, such as the production of aluminum alloy doors and windows.
  • Shoot nails. The shape is similar to the cement nail, but it is shot from a gun. Relatively speaking, the nail fastening is better and economical than manual construction. At the same time, it is easier to construct than other nails. Nails are mostly used in the construction of wooden projects, such as fine wood production and wooden facing projects.
  • Bifurcated rivet. There are mother nails and child nails. The mother nail is hollow and cylindrical, and the two corners of the bottom will diverge after the child nail is driven; it is generally used to fix various parts on concrete.

Process flow of nail manufacturing:

Tools and Spares for Nail Making Machines
  • Wire drawing: With the help of the power of the Wire Drawing Die in the wire drawing machine, the highly durable carbon steel wire is drawn out and placed on the continuously rotating drum. After continuous pulling, the wire that has met the size is rolled up and cut by the machine into a section. The short rods are then attracted to the designated nail making machine with an electromagnet for the next process.
  • Cold heading: The semi-finished materials of the nails are sent to the nail making machine, and the head of the nail is stamped out with Nail Gripper Dies, and various logos can be made.
  • Polishing: After cold heading, the nails can be processed for tail or tip, and then the final polishing process is the finished nail. If the nail surface needs electroplating, these processes can be added.
