For woodworking tool manufacturers, in addition to factors such as equipment and grinding wheels, in the tool manufacturing process, there is also a problem that cannot be ignored, which is the reasonable choice of grinding fluid and grinding oil.
(1) Selection of grinding fluid. Cemented carbide materials have high hardness and high brittleness. The grinding temperature can reach about 1,000 ℃, but only 15% of the large amount of heat generated is carried away with the wear debris and 8% with the workpiece. For the grinding fluid used in the manufacture of cemented carbide cutting tools, it should have the following performance characteristics:
①Better lubrication performance and extreme pressure performance;
②Excellent cooling performance, which can wash away the grinding debris and sand particles worn by the grinding wheel in time;
③Good anti-foaming performance, ensuring that no foam is generated in large flow and high speed in the grinding state, which effectively guarantees the cooling and cleaning properties;
④It effectively prevents the precipitation of cobalt.
(2) Selection of grinding oil. Contrary to grinding fluid, the primary purpose of using grinding oil is not to cool the cutting area, but to reduce heat generation by providing high lubricity. Generally, the requirements for grinding oil used in the manufacture of cemented carbide tools are as follows:
①Using better quality base oils with higher flash point and lower evaporation, such as hydrocracking base oils or synthetic base oils, so that under the same viscosity conditions, oil loss can be greatly reduced and the cleanliness of the working environment can be improved .
②The grinding oil has a suitable viscosity to ensure that the oil has excellent washing performance and sedimentation performance.
③The grinding oil adopts a reasonable formula system, such as avoiding the use of extreme pressure additives containing sulfur and chlorine to prevent the grinding oil from corroding the non-ferrous metal parts of the machine tool.
