How to choose the coating of CNC milling insert?

When customers purchase CNC milling insert, they will be asked what material they need to process. A lot of these customers use inserts to process steel. However, because there are many kinds of steel, we will recommend the use of inserts with different coating for steel with different hardness. In this article, we will introduce different grades of coatings.

9335 inserts are specially used for machining medium carbon steel and low carbon steel.

9335 coating milling inserts for HRC45

Mild steel is a kind of carbon steel with carbon content less than 0.25%. Because of its low strength, low hardness and soft, it is also called mild steel.

Medium carbon steel is a kind of carbon steel with carbon content of 0.25% ~ 0.65%. It includes most high quality carbon structural steel and some common carbon structural steel. This kind of steel is mostly used to make various mechanical parts, and some are used to make engineering structural parts.

J66 coating inserts. The milling insert for stainless steel, superalloy, titanium alloy, we recommend our J66 coating inserts.

Stainless steel is the abbreviation of stainless acid-resistant steel, which is resistant to air, steam, water and other weak corrosive media or stainless steel; and the steel resistant to chemical corrosive media (acid, alkali, salt and other chemical etching) is called acid-resistant steel. The hardness of stainless steel usually reaches hrc56-58, corrosion resistance and human nature are very strong, widely used in tool manufacturing.

Superalloy is a kind of metal material based on iron, nickel and cobalt, which can work at high temperature above 600 ℃ and under certain stress for a long time. It has excellent high temperature strength, good oxidation resistance and hot corrosion resistance, good fatigue performance, fracture toughness and other comprehensive properties. It is also known as “superalloy”. It is mainly used in aerospace and energy fields.

Titanium alloy refers to a variety of alloys made of titanium and other metals. Titanium is an important structural metal developed in 1950s. Titanium alloy has high strength, good corrosion resistance and high heat resistance. From 1950s to 1960s, high temperature titanium alloy for aeroengine and structural titanium alloy for airframe were mainly developed. Titanium alloy in the processing of the difficulties and skills we have said in the previous article, interested friends can go to see.

In addition to ordinary milling inserts, our high feed milling inserts and drilling inserts also meet a variety of processing requirements

In the next article, we will talk about 9335 and G1 coatings. Welcome to read.
