The CNC lathe can process complex shapes of revolving bodies. Milling is to fix the blank, and use a high-speed rotating milling cutter to move on the blank to cut out the required shapes and features. Traditional milling is mostly used to mill simple shape features such as contours and grooves. The CNC milling machine can process complex shapes and features. When selecting the content of CNC milling, the advantages and key roles of CNC milling machine should be fully utilized.
Let’s talk about the basic information about milling today.
Milling processing is divided into the following types:
1.Peripheral milling: the method of milling a plane with a cylindrical milling cutter
Down milling: the direction of rotation of the milling cutter at the cutting position is the same as the feed direction of the workpiece
Features: longer tool life; higher surface quality of the workpiece; good for tightening of the workpiece
Up-milling: the rotation direction of the milling cutter at the cutting position is opposite to the feed direction of the workpiece
Features: severe tool wear; low surface quality of the workpiece; not conducive to tightening of the workpiece.
2.Face milling: a method of machining a plane with the face cutter teeth of a face milling cutter
Symmetrical milling: the axis of the milling cutter coincides with the symmetrical centerline of the workpiece milling width
Asymmetric milling: the axis of the milling cutter does not coincide with the symmetric center line of the workpiece milling width
Milling tools are mostly processed by multi-edge milling tools, with cutting edges alternately cutting, with good tool cooling effect and high durability
Milling processing has the characteristics of high production efficiency and wide processing range. It can complete processing tasks such as processing planes, steps, grooves, and special-shaped surfaces.
