In the following situations, the tungsten carbide tipped circular saw blade needs to be sharpened in time.
a) When the cutting quality no longer meets the requirements
b) When the energy consumption of the machine tool increases significantly
c) When the edge of the cutting material has obvious burst.
d) When the alloy cutting edge wear reaches 0.2mm.
Professional care and maintenance is the key to an effective and productive use of your carbide circular saws. Timely sharpening and maintaining of circular saw blade is very important, because when the saw blade is not sharp, the saw body will heat up, and the motor will be overloaded, which will reduce the service life of the saw blade. Continue cutting when it is time to grind, and every 10% increase in cutting volume will bring about 50% additional alloy damage and shorten the service life of the saw blade.
What are the small details that should be paid attention to when grinding the saw blade? Let’s explain one by one below.
1. The chipping, sawdust and other debris gathered on the saw teeth and the side of the saw must be regularly removed, because the accumulation of sticky chipping will increase resistance and cause high energy consumption (in extreme cases, it will cause the burning of the machine motor) and rough quality outcomes. If the cutting edge is dull at the same time, it may cause damage to the saw teeth. Whenever a single tooth is damaged during transportation and handling, the next tooth becomes overloaded, causing it to wear faster. This domino effect greatly shortens the service life of the blade and makes the operator question the quality of the tool and the machine.
2. When cleaning, avoid using corrosive solvents. When the saw blade is not used for a long time, it should be cleaned and sharpened. After being oiled for rust prevention, it should be placed in the original carton and then properly placed.
3. Use a precise, stable and vibration-free sharpening machine, and a suitable diamond grinding wheel. Grinding the carbide saw tip in accordance with the prescribed operating procedures will extend the service life of the saw blade. Please do not use manual sharpening equipment.
When sharpening, pay attention to strictly follow the geometric design of the original specifications in the sample.
Please refer to the following for the selected diamond grinding wheel:
a) Wet grinding (emulsion coolant) is recommended.
b) The recommended feed rate is 1-2mm/sec.
c) Diamond grinding wheels with 500 grit and above and automatic machines must be used for grinding, otherwise the saw teeth will be damaged.
d) When conditions permit, it is recommended to grind the front and rear corners at the same time.
By sharpening the saw blade, you could save more money, and that always feels better than spending it.
