A few days ago, the Swiss Machinery Association selected Zhuzhou for the first event of the national roadshow, and held a “Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Industry Processing and Equipment use technology seminar”.
According to the rough statistics of the Municipal Cemented Carbide Industry Association, last year, the output of CNC blades in our city exceeded 200 million pieces. “Zhuzhou customers” are becoming more willing to provide sophisticated services to foreign companies that assist processing.
Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Tools
In recent days, Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Group is busy carrying out the final relocation. In 2020, the high-end cemented carbide bar production line relocation and expansion upgrade project in the Xinma Industrial Park of Zhuzhou High-tech Zone has been put into production. This year, all the bar production of the group headquarters will be transferred here. According to the design, after the project reaches production capacity, it can produce 2,000 tons of high-end cemented carbide bar profiles annually.
Under the heavy pressure of the epidemic, Zhuzhou cemented carbide industry gained a wave of upward market last year. Statistics from the Municipal Cemented Carbide Industry Association show that from January to November last year, Zhuzhou cemented carbide rods increased by 9.5%. The annual output will reach 2500 tons.
As far as the national market is concerned, Zhuzhou’s cemented carbide bars account for only one quarter, but it accounts for a large proportion in the field of cemented carbide bars for emerging industries. For example, Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Group uses high-end cemented carbide rod profiles as raw materials for micro-diameter drill pins, which are innovative products that break the international monopoly. They have broad market prospects in the processing of 5G product circuit boards and other products, and demand exceeds supply.
The growth of CNC blades is more obvious. From January to November last year, the output of CNC blades in Zhuzhou enterprises increased by 22.5% year-on-year. The annual output is expected to exceed 215 million pieces, while the national output is expected to be around 280 million pieces.
“China is the world’s largest consumption market for CNC blades.” Zhang Zhongjian, executive vice president of the City Cemented Carbide Industry Association, said. A group of cemented carbide companies such as Keyi, Zhuzhou Huarui, Zhuzhou Jinwei, and Zhuzhou Klite have achieved rapid growth.
In 2019, there were only 10 domestic cemented carbide companies that produced more than 1,000 tons.
Three of them are in Zhuzhou, including Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Group Co., Ltd., Zhuzhou Diamond Cutting Tool Co., Ltd., and Zhuzhou Oukeyi CNC Precision Tool Co., Ltd.
According to the current enterprise growth rate and production expansion project calculation, it is estimated that by 2023, the annual production capacity of Zhuzhou CNC blade head enterprises will reach 396 million pieces, an increase of 84% over 2020, and the annual production capacity of bars is expected to increase to 5,000 tons.
Towards the back end of the higher value-added industrial chain
In recent years, with the upgrading of domestic manufacturing, the participation of cemented carbide tools in digital manufacturing is gradually deepening, and market demand is also increasing. As the largest cemented carbide production base in the country, Zhuzhou enterprises are also constantly advancing and extending to the higher value end of the industrial chain.
On December 10th last year, Oukeyi, known as the “first share in the field of carbide CNC blades in China,” officially landed on the Science and Technology Innovation Board for issuance, and it rose by more than 80% on the first day of trading. Public information shows that the funds raised this time will be used for the company’s “Intelligent Manufacturing Base Construction Project with an Annual Output of 40 Million High-end CNC Blades” and “NC Precision Tool R&D Platform Upgrade Project”.
Diamond Cutting Company’s “Integral Relocation and Upgrade Project of Traditional Blade CNC Tools” was officially put into production last year. With this, this company will realize the adjustment of the production capacity of traditional blades, CNC cutting tools, and CNC blade products, and vacate the main manufacturing capacity for high value-added and high-tech products, and achieve iterative upgrades.
“Zhuzhou cemented carbide industry is developing more and more downstream, and more companies are turning to finished tool production and focusing on high value-added products. This is a very good process of upgrading the industrial chain.” said Liu Chao, chairman of the Swiss Machinery Association. “It is hoped that through this close communication form of roadshows, we can learn more about the needs of Zhuzhou enterprises.”
This time, the five companies led by the association mastered the world’s leading innovative technologies in the subdivisions of machine tool equipment, measuring tools, clamping tools, cutting fluids, and software. The Swiss company Oswald is the world’s top supplier of powder presses. Its annual sales in the Chinese market are considerable, of which 80% are Zhuzhou enterprises.
